When I was younger I had really thick, long hair. But over the years I've abused it with anything I could get my hands on, wether it was straightners, bleach or too much backcombing, you name it I've committed every hair crime going. My poor hair hasn't escaped unscathed unfortunately. It's nowhere near as thick as it used to be and is definitely a little on the thin side these days which means a good thickening or volumising shampoo is nearly always a must.
Luckily for me and my fellow fine haired friends there's a new shampoo in town. L'oreal's new Fibrology range is designed to give volume to fine hair and to thicken it from the first wash. Unlike traditional thickening products that would coat each strand of hair to make it appear fuller, this one actually has a special ingredient ( filoxane, if I'm not mistaken) so that it increases the diameter of each hair and expands it from the inside, faaancy.
The shampoo* is lovely, and as far as volumising shampoos go I think it works a treat. I feel like my hair feels bouncier and less flat whilst being lovely and clean at the same time. I sometimes find that volumisng products can make my hair feel a tad sticky and 'producty' but this is actually really nice. Lather-wise it's pretty much the same as the other L'oreal shampoos - lots of bubbles and cleans really well. The conditioner * is also pretty good. It's super silky and leaves hair feeling soft and nourished after just a few minutes , perfect.
I've also been using the Thickness Booster * after shampooing and before the conditioner. I have to admit that this hasn't wowed me as much as the other products. It comes in a 30ml tube and is incredibly watery and unlike anything I've ever seen. It also stipulates in the instructions that you should use roughly the same as you would your conditioner. I'm pretty generous with my conditioner so I'd probably end up going through a tube of this a week if I used it according to the instructions. Once on my hair however this feels completely undetectable and after using the shampoo and conditioner with this and without it I couldn't really see a difference in the results. It's worth noting however that the range is designed to continue working with regular use and will continue to leave you with thicker hair even if you discontinue using them so I'm going to persevere with it and see if continued use makes any difference to the performance.
Once it comes to blow drying my hair I can definitely see the results. It felt bouncier and thicker from the first use and continues to feel lovely every time I use it. For £3.99 a bottle I couldn't be more pleased and it's definitely made it's way on to the repurchase list. Plus, there's also a mask and a serum that I'll definitely be purchasing next time I'm in Boots.
