There's nothing I love more than sitting down to read my favourite blogs; cup of tea in hand, and of course a tasty snack to accompany it. It was actually during a recent blog catch up that I discovered the recipe for these on Nouvelle Daily. Being a life long fan of cheese scones it wasn't long before I was in the kitchen whipping up a batch.
Ingredients
- 225g Self-Raising Flour
- 100g Chedder Cheese, grated
- 50g Butter, diced
- 150ml fresh milk (semi skimmed)
- 1 tbsp of fresh chives,finely chopped
1. Pop the flour and salt into a bowl and rub in the diced butter until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.
2. Stir in 70g of the cheese and the chives. I actually used a little extra cheese, but then again I am a bit of a cheese fan
3. Gradually add the milk and work to form a soft dough. Knead in the bowl until the dough is smooth
4.Roll out onto a floured surface to about a 1cm thickness.
5. Use 2 inch circular cutter ( or even the top of a glass if you don't have cutters) to get as many rounds out of the dough as you can. Transfer them onto a baking tray and make sure you've lined it first with some grease proof paper to avoid them sticking. Brush the tops with milk. The milk on top helps the scones to go a lovely brown colour whilst baking.
6. Bake at 230 degrees C for around 7-10 minutes.
7. Sprinkle the remainder of the cheese over the freshly baked scones
8. Try not to eat them all in one go
Ooh those look delicious! And what a simple recipe...even better!
