Soap & Glory one Heck of a blot

It's no secret that I've been suffering from a terribly shiny t-zone as of late. I'm not sure if it is winter weather or just me but it seemed that no matter what I tried there was no keeping the shine at bay!
However,I recently bought Smashbox's lovely Photo Ready primer   which has done an amazing job of helping to keep shine to a minimum and my make up in place. However I do still need the occasional powder touch up throughout  the day just to help keep things nice and matte.
My new found matte-ness is all down to my new powdery friend One Heck of a Blot which has so far proved to be a brilliant setting powder. Being a lover of all things translucent I knew this powder would become a firm favourite as soon as I saw it. The packaging also doesn't hurt either. It comes housed in a nice sturdy compact with a big enough mirror for on the go touch ups and I'm a total sucker for any product with a pretty picture embossed in it ( sad I know). It also comes with a little puff but I've chosen to ignore that for the time being as a prefer to apply my powder with a nice fluffy brush.
In the pan the powder looks white but I've found that once applied it doesn't alter the colour of my face at all, although I am fairly pale anyway and I'm not sure how those of you with a darker complexion would fair! I was also concerned that it might be a little cakey and heavy (like Rimmel's stay matte) as I usually like a very finely milled loose powder but providing you use a light hand it actually feels very light and leaves skin with a nice velvety feel and still looking natural.
I've been applying this in a morning to set my make up and then after 5 or so hours I would add another quick swirl just around my forehead and nose to keep everything ticking over. It does a great job of absorbing oil, stopping my face getting greasy and keeping my make up in tact.

Together with the Smashbox primer these two are proving to be the perfect shine busting duo!
What is your favourite face powder?

  5. Fab review, I've been debating this for a while. Really need this now as my t-zone has been extra shiny the past few weeks which is annoying.

  6. This is my favourite face powder. I've tried Rimmel's Stay Matte powder but it stopped working for me when they weather warmed up.

I've found One Heck of a Blot to be more effective. Like you, I don't use the puff but rather a brush and even though I have darker skin, this translucent powder doesn't make me look ghostly either.

I want to try the Photo Ready Primer now as I'm not sure my Illamasqua primer is doing much. An oily T-zone is such an awful pain!

  10. This sounds great! How do you compare it to the Chanel loose powder (before it made you breakout) because I have that one already, but I can't exactly carry it in my bag! I need a powder to carry around for touch ups and this one sounds perfect :)
