When it comes to fake tan it seems to divide the beauty world like marmite divides toast lovers. Some of us think it's better to embrace our natural paleness whilst others prefer a bit of a tint. I for one am definitely on the pro tan side and after a good fews years working my way through every false tan known to man, regularly suffering the dreaded orange palms and sporting patchy legs for PE on more than one occasion, I've finally managed to round up 3 of the best.
Best for a light tan
Firstly I have no idea how I managed to bag such a huge bottle of this?! I spotted it in my local Boots and I've never seen such a large bottle since. St Tropez Bronzing Mousse has been my go to tan for a good few years now. It's tinted so application is a dodlel and it glides on giving the loveliest natural colour. I find I can get away with this one without looking like I've actually bothered to tan so those tan-ophobes out there, this is the one for you.
Best Gradual Tan
I'm not always a fan of gradual tan. I find that by the time I've built up any colour it's already starting to go patchy and needs scrubbing off. Palmer's is the first gradual tanner that I've ever repurchased. It's so easy to use and the formula is fool proof, even if you're a tanning newb. I also love that you can easily build up the colour as much or as little as you like and it has that typical palmers scent too! It's also lovely and moisturising and leaves skin looking really healthy The only thing to remember with this one- make sure you wash your hands afterwards! Orange palms are not chic.
Best for a dark tan
I was introduced to this by a friend at uni. I remember commenting how great her tan was and assuming it was real. Needless to say when she credited it to this little bottle I popped down to Boots the very next day and picked up their Beautiful Bronze Lotion. Before this I hadn't really got along with cheaper fake tans but this one gives the best colour. Again it's tinted so you can see exactly where you've put it and four hours later you're left with a beautiful deep golden glow. It also fades like a dream and doesn't leave patches so very little scrubbing is required.
I usually embrace the pale or opt for a gradual tanner. The bronzing mouse sounds nice- I may have to give it a try. I'm always afraid of missing a spot when applying fake tan

I never knew Palmer's made a gradual tanner. Definitely going to look for this next time I'm out!

I'll do some more research into the St Tropez brand because this sounds perfect. Like Kate, I usually opt to stay pale. I used to use gradual tanners when I was younger and recently purchased a Soilait one. If that one fails then maybe I'll reach for the Palmers though I read another review saying that it was quite dark.
ReplyDeleteI love the Palmers gradual tanner is so quick to work.

I definitely need to check out the Palmers gradual tan. I kind of went off gradual tanners for the same reasons you mentioned but this one sounds like it might convert me back!
