Big hair in a bottle : Oribe Maximista

oribe maximista thickening spray

Right now you're looking at the most expensive hair product I've ever bought. It's one of those products that's appeared on every blog going and I knew it would only be a matter of time before I caved in and tried it for myself.

Now when it comes to volume my hair is definitely lacking. I have that kind of hair that's very fine so it's quite soft when it's newly washed and kind of just hangs there ( think captain caveman), which is why there's always some kind of volumiser / thickening spray in my pre- blow dry routine.

My current big hair enabler is the famous Oribe's Maximista thickening spray. I've only been using this for a couple of weeks but seriously why didn't I buy this baby sooner?! Five or six spritzes at the roots gives the perfect amount of lift and a few through the lengths of my hair really thickens it up. It does have quite a sticky feel which I was a little unsure of at first but I've learnt that it means it gives hair a bit of texture too.

After a wee bit of experimenting I've found that this works best on hair that's about 3/4 dry and even better if I tilt my head upside down when I'm drying my hair. Then we're talking seriously fat hair. For you gals with hair that's a bit on the dry side it's worth noting that this might be one to steer clear of. After a couple of uses it really accentuated my dry ends and reminded me I'm well overdue a trim.

Although pricy it's working wonders on my super flat hair wash after wash. If it's big hair you're after this won't let you down.

  2. I would love to try some Oribe products but I don't think I'd be able to part with my money! This sounds incredible though, and tempting...

  4. I definitely need help in the volume department too. I've been using the John Frieda blow out spray and it gives major volume.
