Essie twinklebelle duo

essie twinkle belle duo review

Every Summer I read 89475 reviews raving about Essie's Mint Candy Apple yet every Summer it some how avoids being put in my basket. A couple of months back this all changed when I spied it in a cute little duo set and couldn't resist the lure any longer.

Shade-wise it's just as pretty as I'd hoped. Although it leans quite blue it's the perfect accompaniment to that Summer tan and I like that I don't have anything else like it in my polish collection. Plus it has a lovely glossy finish which is a big thumbs up from me!

Unfotunately that's where the praise ends. I find application a bit of pain; it streaks quite badly and some nails end up needing 3 coats which ends up being quite time consuming. I've also found the wear time to be terrible. With a base coat and top coat I find I'm lucky if I can even managed to get 12 hours out of this without it chipping or peeling. The sparkly top coat doesn't really float my boat either. The holographic pink particles just don't look right and from a distance I think they make the nails look dirty which is such a shame as in the bottle it looks such a beautiful polish.

Whinging aside, I still find myself reaching for this just because the shade is so lovely. It's just a shame about the formula

  1. I actually find that most essie polishes have the same problems, such a shame because they have gorgeous colors!

  3. It is a pain when the formula isn't great. I have that problem with essie polishes- some of them just don't measure up. It doesn't keep me from buying though because the shade selection is stunning. This shade is still on my to buy list.
