L'oreal And lancome!

When it comes to eyeliner I'm usually a die hard pencil fan - and I always go for brown. I think this is because it is a bit more subtle and creates a softer look. However I had started to notice that my current eyeliner just didn't seem to last more than a few hours and it didn't give a particularly defined look. So when I was in Boots and I was having a little browse I came across L'oreal super liner and I decided to purchase my first ever liquid eyeliner!

First off I love the packaging - it's glossy and compact and has a screw lid that houses a little sponge applicator. I went for this eyeliner because I liked the look of the applicator ( being a sponge it seemed completely fool proof and being a liquid eyeliner virgin I tested it on the back of my hand and found it surprisingly easy to apply and brilliant at creating flicks)

I really like how one sweep gives a really defined black line and there's no need to layer. It also lasts all day and doesn't smudge or crack which is great!( I like my makeup to be low maintenance)

I don't think the above picture does this product justice ( partly because of my poor application- rushing for work eeeek). It does look a lot better in the flesh.

Because I spent £15 on L'oreal I got a free gift ( :| love my freebies!)

In the box I got:
-Super Liner luminzier in black diamond ( a little bit annoying because it's almost identical to the one I just bought!)
-Glam Shine Lip Gloss in magnetic nude glow
-two nail varnishes in you're worth it and opulent pink ( the youre worth it one is a really odd grey colour, not sure ill be wearing that...)
-and a couple of sachets

The eyeliner was definitely the best bit of this gift. It's very similar to the version I had bought except it comes out less black and has a very subtle hint of sparkle ( when I say very subtle I mean barely there!!). I don't like this version as much as the plain black because it tends to run out of liquid half way across my lash line and ends up making the finish look a little bumpy.Plus it's a little less pigmented so applies a little bit too sheer for my liking.

Also this week I bought Tatler ( £4.10) because it had a free sample of Lancome Hypnose Star. I'd heard some really good stories about about Lancome mascaras and a few friends swear by them so naturally I jumped at the chance to try this little sample size!

Here are my lashes after two coats. I wasn't really that impressed. It did an okay job but I wouldn't be happy if I had paid the full £21 retail price because it's nothing special. On the box it is described as ' show stopping volume mascara' but I have tried others that give just as much volume for half the price. However I did like the brush, it's a bristle brush and it gets thinner at one edge which made it easy to apply.
I did have one MAJOR issue with this product and that was the smell!! I feel really silly mentioning the smell of a mascara but this one is just dreadful. It smells a bit like rose scented bath products and I reallyreallyreally HATE rose scented bath products and I'm not sure why anyone would want to make a mascara smell? Surely if there's one thing in your make up bag that you wouldn't want to have a scent it would be mascara... hmm

  1. I've tried quite a few liquid eyeliners and I didn't really like any of them. They went on a bit patchy if that makes sense. I'm just sticking to gel liners for now, but the one that you have looks really nice! I might try it one day.
