Having a fairly oily t-zone I really appreciate a good primer. For the last 6 or so months I've been using Smashbox's Photo Ready but as that was starting to run out I began the search for something new.
Becca isn't a brand I'm all too familiar with but after a good nose around Space NK I really liked the sound of this, and being mattifying and pore-masking it sounded right up my street. On first use I wasn't too sure how I felt about this. It squeezes out like a solid balm and it's meant to be warmed between your fingers so it turns liquidy and is easier to apply. Whilst I wasn't sure about the warming step ( it seemed a little faffy) I was most concerned with how it felt on my skin. It applies very wet and feels a tad sticky, and whilst the instructions say wait a short while before you apply make up I didn't particularly like the wet feeling and I found it very difficult to blend as it seemed to grip to my skin almost instantly.
Teething problems aside I've actually grow to love this. I've learnt the best way to apply it is a tiny bit at a time as it doesn't spread as easily as a silicone based primer. After the initial horror at the 'wet stage' this does actually dry to a really nice, non tacky, matte finish. It provides a really smoothe base for make up and actually does a pretty good job of smoothing out pores. I've found this works best as a t-zone primer and it's not something that I would use all over my face but it does keep my foundation in place all day. I tend to find my foundation starts to slip and slide around 4 o'clock but this little beauty really helps absorb oil and keep my make up lookg fresh.
It's definitely one to keep an eye out for if you have an oily patches. What's your favourite primer?
Thanks for the great post on your blog, it really gives me an insight on this topic.

I used the Benefit Porefessional for the longest time (I used up one of the bigger tubes) but I've stopped using primers since, using only the random sample here and there... You made this sound great though! ;) xx

Space NK always delivers! Not sure I would like that wet feeling either, but I may still have to have a nose next time I'm passing!
