Smashbox fade to black palette

Whilst I was browsing the Smashbox counter in  search of a new primer this little lovely from the 2013 Fall collection also caught my eye. I had been on the lookout for a khaki eyeshadow for a while ( I thought it about time I branched out from browns and taupes) and the Fade to Black palette had one in the exact shade I had been looking for as well as a few other wearable nudes ( my favourites!). Who can say no to nudes?
I'll start by saying the packaging for this is just gorgeous. The 7 shades come housed in the loveliest, sleek purple ombre packaging and it also comes with a rather nice handy brush with the softest bristles. The palette has a good range of both matte and shimmer shades and all have the same gorgeous soft texture and have quite a good pigmentation. The shimmery shades do have quite a bit of shimmer to them but they're not gritty at all and still have the same lovely soft texture as the matte colours. My only issue is that the lightest shade doesn't really show up too well on my skin, hence why it isn't included in the swatches above ( I tried to swatch it, promise!) but it does make a good base to apply the other shades over or for a little bit of brightening in the inner corners of your eyes. The other shades are all much more colourful. The golden khaki one is my most favourite shade, it's the perfect mix of gold and khaki and has a gorgeous sheen to it. I've also been really enjoying wearing the matte brown with the shimmery taupe for an everyday simple eye. The combination of nudes and darker shades means that this palette has been amazing at creating smoky eyes and I'm going to use it to do my Halloween witch make up next week.
I've also been pretty impressed with the wear time of these. Without a primer they've lasted a good few hours without creasing or fading and have managed to survive nights out, trips to uni, and the current monsoon we're having in Manchester at the moment.
This has definitely become my new go to pallette.

Have you bought anything from the Smashbox fall collection?

  3. Their are so many nude palettes out their now and its hard to choose one but this one looks really nice. I love that most of the shadows are matte. Some other palettes can go a bit crazy with the shimmer.

  7. I normally play it safe with neutrals and I'm looking for a new palette to try that's a tiny step away from the old comfort zone, I need something long wearing so I'll be sure to use these with a primer :-)
