An October to do list

1. Pick your own pumpkin
Carving a pumpkin is a yearly tradition in our house. We could spend hours on Pinterest searching for inspiration and even longer actually carving it, determined to out do each other and create the best pumpkin. Why not try picking your own straight from the field this year? There's loads of pumpkin farms dotted up and down the country and it's so much fun rummaging around the patch in search of one that's just right

2. Bake some Parkin
Being a Yorkshire lass Parkin is another favourite tradition of mine at this time of year. It's super easy to make and goes down a treat with a cuppa on those cold evenings. There's a recipe here if you fancy a go

3. Treat yourself to some snugly socks
If Autumn isn't the perfect time to get cosy then when is?! I love throwing on my softest fleeciest clothes when I'm lounging round the house and these socks are the perfect finishing touch

4. Splash in the puddles
So at this time of year things start to get a little colder and it does seem to rain a lot but that shouldn't stop you getting out and about and enjoying some fresh air. Just don your best wellies and splash in those puddles and listen to the crunchy leaves underfoot.

5. Get crafty
With Halloween just around the corner it's time to think about decorating. Martha Stewart has a whole host of tips from DIY decorations, how to carve the perfect pumpkin and yummy recipes too. Her site could keep you busy for hours

6. Throw a scary film night
Autumn is the perfect excuse to have a cosy night in. Invite all your friends and snuggle up on the sofa with your favourite scary films. You can whip up a batch of brownies and it's always fun to ask everyone to bring a snack too!

7. Toast marshmallows
Toasted marshmallows are one of life's little pleasures. Toasting them on the fire is so much fun, but not as much fun as eating them! You can even melt some chocolate or strawberry sauce as if they weren't already sweet enough!

8. Have a picnic
Okay, so it's cold- but that doesn't have to stop us from dining al fresco. Grab a flask and fill it with your favourite homemade soup (I love butternut squash) , pack a blanket and drive somewhere with a view.

9. Invest in some bubbles
I don't think there's anything nicer than jumping in a hot bath after a busy week and spending some time relaxing. I always like to bring a good book and a glass of wine with me too! And don't forget to add your favourite bubbles or bath oil for an extra indulgent treat.
