I have a little bit of a love hate relationship with mascara. It's something that I have to include in my daily make up routine, or else I look like an alien but at the same time it's one of those products where I'm often left feeling underwhelmed.
I actually picked up Revlon's Lash Potion on a bit of a whim. I had a coupon, I was shopping with my boyfriend ( we all know guys are so incredibly patient when browsing the cosmetic stands) and I really just liked the packaging. I've since discovered that it comes in a waterproof version, which had I known at the time I probably would have gone with that. Oh well.
From the get go I was pretty impressed with this mascara. I opted for blackened brown which I think is dark enough to enhance your eyelashes for everyday wear but doesn't look as harsh as black sometimes can. The brush is a bristle brush which I love, plastic brushes are a definite no in my book. It's quite a big brush but not too big to work with or risk poking yourself in the eye with. Plus it is a nice simple shape, no fuss or unusual ball shapes on the end that just gather product. It easily coats and seperates eyelashes and gives a good dose of length and volume without clumping or giving you spidery lashes. I feel like it makes my eye lashes look really long and full but not too much, and almost as if I'm naturally blessed in the eye lash department. I also really like the formula, it's not too wet when applying which is something I really dislike in a mascara.
I've seen people say that they found this mascara smudged easily but I can honestly say I haven't experienced any of that or flaking. If you're on the hunt for a nice cheap and cheerful drugstore mascara then here you go.
If there were an award for incorporating the word 'eyelash' in to as many sentences as possible I think I would have just won.....

Good to see a review on this because I always see it in store but I've never known enough about it to buy it! Thanks :)

This started out quite well for me but as it dried out I found it difficult to work with, so I'll pass on this one but it's good that it seems to work for you :o). Xx

Definitely on my to try list!x
DeleteReally good review, I find it so difficult taking about things like mascara. 'It's um... like mascara?' This is my most recent mascara purchase and I think you've hit it spot on. It is nice but I expected better things? xx
ReplyDeleteI'm never particularly wowed by mascara! Even more expensive ones don't impress me that much. I think I might be too fussy ahha xx

ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about love hate. I feel like I miss this mascara when I don't use it but I'm still left underwhelmed at times when I do. Maybe they need to amp up the formula or something. Either way, totally agree with your post and love your blog, glad i found it!

I think it's because they do something so normal. It's not like you can be like wow love the colour!! And it's not something that can make such a difference like a good base can. I don't know, maybe I'm too fussy ahha. Thank you for stopping bye xxxx
DeleteI know it sounds stupid, but I love the name of this product!
ReplyDeleteLooks like an amazing mascara, i really want to try it now and the packaging it gorgeous!x
