Heat-proofing your make up

make up for hot weater

So it seems that Summer has finally arrived and we've been having some pretty nice weather recently, even up North. I spent most of last week in London and it was seriously warm. Lots of heat, coupled with with me dashing in and out of various tube stations meant that things got a little sweaty towards the end of the day and the lasting power of my face was seriously tested.

I'd anticipated that things might get a little hot so I made sure I packed a couple of products that can really take the heat. Firstly I started with a super light moisturiser. I've raved about Avene's Light Hydrating Moisturiser on here before and it's still a joy to use. It provides enough hydration whilst being completely non-greasy throughout the day. So far, its been the perfect Summer moisturiser and provides a great base for my make up. Next up is primer. I'm a fan of primer all year round but Becca's Ever Matte Poreless Priming Perfecter is my favourite for when the temperatures soar. It comes out of the tube like a solid balm and helps to minimize any oil and smooth out pores. It's perfect for warmer days when the heat makes my oily t-zone worse.

Another warm weather wonder is No7's Beautifully Matte Foundation. I've been using No7's foundations for a while now ( if you haven't tried them yet then why not?!) and I've mentioned my love for their Superlight one numerous times. Recently I've found myself reaching for this little  grease proof, sweat proof beauty. It really holds it own on warm days and I wore this on the hottest day of the year without my face completely melting off. I'm not usually big on matte foundations but I don't find this to be cakey and it doesn't have an overly matte, dulling finish either.

Powder is a must for me on most days thanks to my slightly oily t-zone and Clinique's Blended Face Powder really packs a punch when it comes to keeping everything matte and upping my foundations lasting power. I've used this for years and I can always rely on it to help keep shine under control.

I love a bit of cream blush but running round a city in the heat means that those kind of products tend to just slide off my skin or move around my face. On really warm days I stick to a powder blush and Hourglass' Ambient Lighting Blush is my go to cheek colour of choice. Radiant Magenta gives my cheeks a lovely flush and really provides a lit from within glow. The best part is it still looks at good at 8pm as it did at 8am.

Lastly- eyebrows. I almost have no eyebrows of my own so this is a step I can't afford to skip. I discovered the Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade last summer and it's all I've used since. It's so easy to use and once it's on it doesn't budge or smudge. I wore this on my recent trip to Mexico and not even 40 degree heat or several dips in the sea could make this stuff move.

If anybody has any tips for Summer proofing your make up then I would love to know! I would also like to apologise for how many times I have used the words 'hot' and 'warm' in this post. I did try mix it up every now and then! Promise!

  1. That Hourglass blush is stunning, I have Dim Infusion and I love it. Now I'm currently coveting the blush trio but it seams to be sold out everywhere ;)
