Before I purchased this I had been solely using Pai's Rosehip oil as my night time facial oil. I really liked the Rosehip oil and it seemed like my skin was finally behaving itself but after having a sniff of this and a chat with the lady on my local Clarins counter I ended up making a purchase.
Clarins do several of these for various different skin types but I picked up the Lotus one that's for oily and combination skin. After hearing that it was meant to balance and purify the skin, tighten pores whilst refining skin's texture and it was made from 100% pure plant extracts this sounded like the skincare product of dreams.
At first I really loved it. I'd make an effort to thoroughly cleanse beforehand and the smell of the oil made me feel like I was having some kind of fancy facial. I found that it did take a little while to sink in but it really didn't bother me. I was also impressed that my face wasn't left greasy in the morning but it felt touchably soft and hydrated.
Unfortunately that's where the good bits end for me. After a week or so I started getting those painful under the skin lumpy spots. I was expecting some breakouts as the oil did promise to purify the skin so I persevered. After around two and a half weeks I threw in the towel. My skin was becoming really sorry and the breakout that ensued was awful. I was really disappointed because I did love the smell and the feel of the oil. I'm not sure whether my skin would have calmed down if I had continued to use it but because it is quite sensitive I decided that it was making too much of a mess of my face to risk it getting any worse.
I have since given this to my mum who is really enjoying it and hasn't experienced any breakouts or purging or anything like that. I'm not sure why my skin hated this so much but from now on I will definitely be sticking to my rosehip oil!
