Updated Skin care routine

I recently decided that a bit of a skin care over haul was needed. My skin hadn't been great for a while, break outs seemed to be more frequent and my skin seemed oily but dull at the same time. I decided a little bit of TLC was needed and that I was going to give my skin a break and take a gentler approach to cleansing.

Before my mini overhaul I had been using my calrisonic twice a day ( morning and night) and for the first year my skin loved it, it felt smoother and softer and looked so much clearer but as of late I felt I was over cleansing slightly and decided to cut exfoliation ( calrisonic, face scrubs etc) out of my routine completely and introduce some different products in the hope of perking my skin up slightly.

I firstly decided to introduce a new cleanser for my night time routine, and I opted for the well loved blogger favourite cleanse and polish. So far I have found that this leaves my skin feeling lovely and clean and manages to wash away the very last traces of make up that my micellar water sometimes leaves behind. It also feels so much more gentle on my skin and doesn't give that dreaded too tight, over cleansed feel.

The first new item I went for , after an intensive browse  of the Lloyd's Pharmacy website was la Roche Posays thermal spa water spray . Prior to this I actually had no idea that Lloyd's pharmacy stocked some of my favourtie brands like Vichy, Neals Yard and la Roche Posay so I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was now another store I could purchase all my favourites.
I was sceptical at first about how much a 'water' could affect my skin but so far I have been loving it. I've been using it as an in between step after cleansing and before toning. I really feel like it does a good job of soothing my face after cleansing and gets rid of any of that post cleanse redness. I've also found it a great refresher for after work when I'm heading out again and don't really have chance to freshen up properly, which has been an absolute god send after a busy couple of weeks. I'm going on holiday in a few weeks and this will definitely be accompanying me pool side!

My next new skin care friend was the gorgeous neals yard orange flower toner. Toning is a step I've skipped for years, I didn't feel like they particularly did anything for my teenage skin and I had actually heard that they could make skin worse. However after reading Caroline hirons post on how toners were the forgotten step, you can read it here, I decided that it was about time to introduce one in to my routine and see how my twenty something skin got on with it. So my views on this toner? Buy it, now, even if it is just for the scent. Like most neals yard products this smells absolutely divine , just like something out of an aromatherapy shop. I know scented products aren't everyone's favourite but once on the skin the scent disappears. This particular toner is meant to 'tone and clarify to encourage a glowing complexion' and so far I would agree with this. My skin feels lovely and fresh after use and really comfortable. I remember toners from back in the day stinging and making my skin feel tight and generally yuck, but this one is just lovely and has persuaded to me abandon my toner prejudices. Plus the bottle is also really pretty and looks great on my dressing table, what's not to love?

My final new addition is the lovely A-Derma Epitheliale AH cream. Packed with natural vitamins and soothing factors this cream is designed to help repair damaged skin and I felt like this was the perfect product for me after a good two months of bad skin. Made from mainly natural ingredients this works to help replenish the skin and sooth and hydrate whilst fading marks. I've been using this mainly at night because during the day I like to keep my skin are products to a minimum. I was initially quite surprised by how light and non greasy this creme feels and it doesn't interfere with my lovely fresh skin feeling. A little also goes a long way ,and although the tube is fairly small I can see it lasting ages. To date I have noticed that this seems to be making a real difference to my skin, it feels much more balanced and calm and I don't have odd little dry patches.

Have you tried any of these products? What are your favourite skin care items?
